FAQs
What should I wear?
I recommend keeping it simple. Unless you’re going for a specific look, stay away from busy patterns or logos. A simple black or white t-shirt always looks great. If you are unsure, you can always bring multiple options.
Do make sure your clothes are wrinkle and lint-free! I do not remove excessive wrinkling in post-production.
Do I need a makeup / hair artist?
It’s completely up to you. I shoot with natural light, so what you see in real life is largely what you’ll get in photos — no need for extra makeup beyond what you’d normally wear. The vast majority of people you see in my photos did their own makeup + hair.
Can I have different backdrops?
I stock select backdrop colours in-studio, for which there’s no extra charge. If you’d like a specific colour that is not in stock, I can likely order it in with advance notice (may be subject to a fee).
Will you Photoshop out things I don’t like?
My philosophy is to create true-to-life photos and edit only things that are temporary: blemishes, redness, stray hairs, etc. I don’t believe in changing permanent parts of people’s bodies, like tucking a chin, etc. I put you in the most flattering lighting + position, to see the best ‘you’ without excessive editing.
I hate getting my photo taken. Will you help me?
Absolutely. Very few people like getting their photo taken, and I’ll walk you through the whole process. It’s a very low-pressure environment, and part of the reason I give people up to an hour for sessions is so that they have time to relax.
Where is your studio located?
Within the cSpace King Edward building at #380, 1721 29th Ave SW. It’s in the Marda Loop/Bankview area of Calgary. Free parking is available on the north and east sides, along with street parking. There is a bus stop approximately 2 blocks east. The building is wheelchair accessible.
